In his dual roles as a senior marine scientist for the Charles Darwin Foundation and conservation scientist for National Geographic’s Pristine Seas project, Pelayo stands on the frontline of oceanic conservation, having played a key role in Ecuador’s creation of a 40,000km2 marine sanctuary in the north of the Galápagos.
